The River Nile

Blind Side

This was a good movie with a pro adoption message and recommended viewing for any one.  It was hard not to be a little jealous of the "perfect kid" who is totally greatful for whatever help he is given.  Those of us with adopted kids damaged in their former life know what it is like to give and give while being rejected constantly by the child.  (Just ask my wife.) Our job is to try and be faithful while leaving the out comes up to God.  I think if hollywood made a movie about most adoption stories it would be difficult to watch.

Post Tiller era
Posted by Kenny on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 12:43am
With the murder of Doctor Tiller by a disturbed individual the scrambling has already begun over who is willing to take his place behind the third trimester scalpel.  There is a Doctor in Nebraska that says he is willing to open up an abortion practice in Kansas because of its liberal laws.  First he plans to get some "training" from Tillers staff on the "procedure" before he opens for business.  Sadly there will always be some one willing to do this work if the price is right.  Our job continues to be a life long commitment to education (winning hearts and minds) and providing positive alternatives to killing your own child.

George Tiller

Doctor Tiller is only one of three doctors in the United states that will preform abortions right up to the 9th month and he practices in Wichita, Kansas.  He reciently was found not guilty of getting a second opinion in an improper manner.  (There is a female doctor that comes to his office once a week and rubber stamps his decisions that the mental health of the mother is threatened so he has to kill a healthy 8th month old "fetus".)  This is to be expected in a world that no longer holds that human life is sacred.
The measures that are described in the book "The River Nile" may seem drastic until you fully grasp what is taking place in Tillers Clinic.  May God have mercy on our Nation as we descend into the post-christian era.

Catholic Church
Posted by Kenny on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 12:30am
The question has come up is this an anti-Catholic Book? The answer is absolutely not. While it is true I am a protestant, I am a christian first.  The main heros in this book are Catholic.  I choose the Catholic Church to perform the "under cover work" in this book because the Protestant Church is too small, fragmented, and uncommited to pull this off.  My wife and I were very impressed with the Catholic Priests we met in Uganda Africa back in the early 80's.  Also, we spent several years volunteering at our local Birthright and housing unwed mothers in our home on referrals from Birthright.  I had several Catholic friends read this book and comment on it during the rough draft stages.  I would love to hear comments from my Catholic readers after they have finished the book.

Slumdog Millionare
Posted by Kenny on Monday, February 16, 2009 at 2:38pm
This movie was personally very tough for me to watch.  The two brothers and the little orphan girl that runs with them reminded me too much of the three older kids we adopted from Guatamala.  It breaks your heart to see the extreme poverty and the lack of love that is normative across this globe of ours.  We have personally seen slums in Kenya, Africa that are worse than the ones in this film.
If we say we are against abortion then we have to be prepared to take on this enormous task of caring for the millions of kids that are out there just like them.  Kids that are going to show up mentally damaged from all the abuse they have received at an early age.
If you say you are against abortion I suggest you go to this movie and then prayfully ask God what he wants you to do to help.
